About the Kansas Landscape Arboretum
The Kansas Landscape Arboretum was established in 1972 through the efforts of Ernest Bauer, Professor L.R. Quinlan, and Bill Flynn. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization and receives no local, state, or federal government funding.
The arboretum is set aside for the collection and cultivation of a fascinating variety of trees species. In addition to trees, the arboretum features woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. These natural areas are accessible via a variety of nature trails. There is no admission charge, and the Kansas Landscape Arboretum is open year-round.
While the Kansas Landscape Arboretum is for the benefit of everyone, it depends upon the generosity of memberships and donations. The Arboretum gladly accepts donations in any amount. For group tours, please contact Dustin Stoddard at [email protected].
Land Acknowledgement
The Kansas Landscape Arboretum acknowledges that the land on which the arboretum sits was historic territory of the indigenous nations that lived here. Among others, the Kaw, Osage, and Pawnee held territory in Kansas prior to the dispossession of their lands by American settlers. These injustices are acknowledged in hope of giving voice to the current federally-recognized Native nations in Kansas: The Prairie Band Potawatomie, the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas, the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, and Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska.
