Trails

The Kansas Landscape Arboretum features four main trails that visitors can explore. These trails guide visitors through various environments including woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. With each season, the nature trails transform with changing colors from foliage and wildflowers—becoming exciting places to explore year-round!

Trails are open year-round for your enjoyment. While trails are maintained by volunteers, please be conscious of poison ivy and fallen branches. Please refrain from picking plants as they are needed to keep the trail beautiful for the next hikers.

Woodland Trail

0.8 miles

The Woodland Trail includes a variety of evergreen and deciduous trees. As the arboretum’s longest trail, you will see a range of vegetation on your walk. The trail culminates at a wetland that feeds into Milford Lake, where herons and other waterfowl are often spotted. As you walk from woodland to wetland, notice how the types of plants around you change from trees in the woodland to grasses and forbs in the wetland.

Some plants you may find here: eastern red cedar, cottonwood, black walnut, hackberry, ash, oaks, elm, redbud, chokecherry, wild plum, dogwood, sumac, and Virginia creeper

Bird Sanctuary Trail
